Ayurveda’s Perspective on Weight

Uncontrolled body weight related to the condition ‘sthoulya or medo roga.’
Agni, and Vata deficiency leads to Visamagni (erratic digestion).
Agni and Pitta deficiency lead to Teekshnagni (overactive metabolism).
Agni and Kapha deficiency causes Mandagni (slow metabolism)that can enhance body weight.
High consumption of sweets, oily, and cold foods results in Kapha vitiation. This leads to fat deposition.
As the metabolism slows down (Mandagni), and the imbalance of Kapha dosha persists, Ama (toxins) stack in the body, which alters the functioning of medho dhatu (body fat).
So, the root cause of obesity lies in the imbalance of the Kapha Dosha and Medho Dhatu. It is the primary culprit for this condition.
