What are the stages of pancreatic cancer?

There are five stages in pancreatic cancer, which are helpful to diagnosis based on the type, stage, location of the tumor of a pancreatic cancer patient.

  1. Stage 0: This stage is named carcinoma in situ. In this stage, abnormal cells in the lining of the pancreases. The cells could become cancerous and spread to nearby tissues of the pancreas.
  2. Stage 1: In this stage tumor is in the pancreas.
  3. Stage 2: The cancer tumor is in the pancreas and spreads to near tissues and lymph nodes or organs.
  4. Stage 3: Cancer will spread to blood vessels near the pancreas and may have spread to lymph nodes.
  5. Stage 4: This is the last stage, and cancer will spread to distant body areas like the liver, lungs, and abdominal cavity. It has spread to lymph nodes and organs of the body.

What is the treatment for pancreatic cancer?

The pancreatic cancer treatment depends upon various factors like the area of the tumor, size of cancer, and stage of cancer based on the patient’s health condition. Some treatment options for pancreatic cancer are:

  • Chemotherapy:

  • Treatment is used to kill the cancer cells by using drugs.
  • Radiation therapy:

  • High-speed energy X-rays destroy the cancer cells in the pancreas.
  • Immunotherapy:

  • This treatment is helpful to increase the immune energy of the body to fight against cancer cells, and some of the pancreatic cancer patients are genetic; they may have benefited from this treatment.
  • Surgery:
